Paintings
I started painting on canvas in 2005 after I settled in Mallorca. I got my inspiration from sailing on many different oceans and seeing all the beautiful colors of the water and skies. I have chosen oil paint as medium because it gives depth to the colors and you can manipulate the drying time to make that “perfect sky”
I use newspaper clippings to create images of boats, the oil in the paint makes the paper transparent so the whole painting gets another dimension, “the other side’ of the page comes through, whatever the news of that day may be…
In my more abstract work I like to combine “a lot” of oil paint with different materials to create relief and texture .
I use silver leaf, stones, fabric and newspaper.
